The GL150 was launched in 1962 and manufactured up until 1965. It was a popular machine with almost 80, 000 units sold worldwide. A larger bodied scooter with 10 inch wheels it could achieve 6. 5 HP and a top speed of 59 MPH. The engine installed in this scooter is a 150cc Sprint engine which has been fully rebuilt by Disco Dez Scooters at a cost of around £2000. The itemised works bill is included.
Our vendor has been a thorough and careful owner of this scooter. He purchased the scooter in 2017 and immediately began restoration and registration then and had it repainted in the correct Piaggio white colour. In 2022 he then decided to have the engine completely restored and it has done very little since and indeed still needs running in and does sound like a new engine. Showing only 1284 kilometres on the original Veglia speedometer. All keys are present. Still on original 6V electrics the scooter has an additional 12V battery for the rear indicators that he has installed. The seat has a nice original feel to it. Since our visit to consign the scooter the vendor has had the front hub repainted and changed the rear light unit to another original SIEM unit as he was not happy with the paint effect and wanted to present the scooter in the best possible condition. He has also installed a new speedo drive which is all connected up and working as it should. These upgrades can be seen in the last of the pictures. The scooter started easily and sounded in fine running order as can be seen by the accompanying video taken at time of consignment. The scooter also comes with a letter and certificate of Origin direct from Piaggio in Italy, a dating certificate from the Veteran Vespa Club and itemised works bill as aforementioned.
