Put on the road in 1951, this SALMSON S4-61L is drivable and has been maintained with care by its owners. Its rebuilt engine has covered around 1, 500 km in total.
History of the Salmson marque
In 1890, Emile Salmson produced pumps in a small Paris workshop. He was a well-known industrialist in the field of public works pumps and stationary engines
Emile Salmson, already crowded, settled in Billancourt like others, next to his friend Laffly who was working on the problem of urban cleaning (watering-sprayers and sweepers). The Great War arrived. Engine production and various aeronautical activities took off. The factories expanded, even in Villeurbanne.
Salmson would even manufacture aircraft, the famous "2A2", which secured the first links of Aéropostale at the end of the Great War.
The post-war period was difficult. The beautiful saloon "Randonnée" was established according to old-fashioned bodywork standards, which the Sport coupé 2300S abandoned thanks to external skills. The latter would go on to chalk up a glorious rally record. It achieved more than 200 successes.

La S461
Appeared at the 1938 Show, it is also a 1700 cc (10 hp), which does not mechanically differ from the S4DA except for a lowered chassis, with the fuel tank at the rear, and rear springs mounted in cantilever.
Produced in small numbers in 1939, the S461s were mainly produced from 1947. Absolutely identical to pre-war ones. The last 200 produced in 1951/ 52, called "61L", have hydraulic brakes and exist only as saloon or cabriolet. Only the 61L saloon then had a new rear with integrated boot and no visible spare wheel.
