Description
This immaculate, fully restored "Griffon" is believed to be a rare survivor from a limited production run of only 50 cars supplied by the Griffon Motor Co. of Nottingham. Based on a 1976, Vauxhall Magnum 1800cc and, using all the main components, it was built in 1985 and is registered on the V5C as a "Griffon Sports". Recorded mileage reads under 11, 600(believed accurate, especially from the condition of the engine and car).
In 2006 a "body off" rebuild was undertaken, including a rebuilt chassis and new floor. All the suspension has been polybushed with Superflex bushes and new shock absorbers added. The brakes are rebuilt, with Goodridge hoses and re-manufactured rear brake drums.
The engine has a gas flowed UNLEADED head with hardened valve seats, a HiF6 SU, a K&N filter and a Kenlowe Fan. There is a new fuel tank, along with a reconditioned radiator and a stainless steel exhaust silencer.
The "Mamba" bucket seats, with 4 point "Westfield" harnesses, are complemented by the interior being re-trimmed in black vinyl. The roll bar has been modified from a "Caterham" and bolted directly onto the chassis. This gives the rear location points for the harnesses and ties together the rear suspension mounts. A high level brake light is fitted to the roll bar.
The 55x15 Minator wheels have Toyo Proxes tyres fitted for improved ride and road holding. MOT July, 2011. Now on SORN. At only £4950 a better example of this rare kit car will not be found.
The car can be viewed in East Yorkshire. Please call me on the details below or the details below. Or use the contact facility on this site.
