Lot 292

c. 1957 Lambretta LD150 Mark 3
Registration no. 196 XVX
Frame no. 219913* 150LD
Engine no. 150LD 223839
Manufactured by the Italian industrial giant Innocenti, the Lambretta scooter gained instant acceptance in the immediate post-war years, its cleanliness and convenience in particular appealing to those who regarded the true motorcycle with suspicion. In the UK, Italian scooters were adopted as favoured transport by the ‘Mods’, becoming one of the enduring style icons of the 1960s. Predecessor of the Li and TV series, the LD arrived in 125cc form in 1951 and became available with 150cc engine three years later. The LD 150’s air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine produced 6bhp (1. 2bhp more than the 125) giving the model a top speed of around 50mph. LD production continued until the end of the 1950s.

Identified by its engine number as an early 1957 model, this Lambretta was purchased in 2022 from Parrspeed Scooters for £4, 500 (receipt on file). A slightly older restoration but still very nicely presented, the machine currently displays a total of 10, 004 kilometres on the odometer. The accompanying V5C states that the Lambretta was previously 'registered and/ or used' overseas and records the date of first UK registration as 1st December 2022 (the one former keeper mentioned is the vendor's company). Additional documentation consists of a dating certificate, the previous V5C, an HPI report, and a DVSA MoT/ tax check. Following a period of inactivity, the machine will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent and is therefore sold strictly as viewed.
Offered with rear toolbox key.

All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles Website for all pertinent auction information.
