Description
I’m selling this 1966 Pontiac Catalina coupe, a full-size sixties model quite uncommon on our roads. It has a 400 ci V8 (6. 6 litres, 38 taxable horsepower) with its sturdy three-speed TH400 automatic gearbox. It’s a car that came from Florida and I’ve had it for almost 15 years: it’s benefited from solid reliability work but shows some faults.
Bodywork: corrosion points at the wheel arches and the rear window. The chassis and sills are sound. It’s a car in its patina with non-original paint and small flaws. Engine: it starts perfectly and runs very well, but ideally the engine should be taken apart for a proper overhaul (it tends to run hot at idle).
Work done since purchase:
- Replaced water pump, oil, front/ rear shock absorbers, radiator (Champion aluminium), Edelbrock 1406 carburettor (new, 2024), Grant wooden steering wheel.
- Sanded and painted the undersides, replaced the boot floor, the fuel tank (60 litres from a Pontiac Le Mans).
- Added tachometer and water temperature gauge. And an electric cooling fan in 2022.
Other useful info: Flowmaster dual exhausts, USB cable to listen to your music, GM steel wheels, interior/ upholstery in good condition (nothing to redo).
The logbook is in my name with collector’s vehicle status.
I’m ready for a change but I’m not in a rush to sell.
I sincerely hope it finds a new owner who will give it a new lease of life.
