Description
BMW M3 E30 (1992)
Originally supplied to the UK market and showing just 54, 800 miles from new.
Finished in Alpine White with an Anthracite Uberkaro check cloth interior.
Delivered new by BMW main dealer Menzies of Stirling, the car underwent its pre-delivery inspection (PDI) on 10th March 1992 before being registered new on 16th March. A few months later, it returned for the all-important M Power running-in service.
The most significant chapter of the cars life began in 2012 when it was acquired by a collector with a particular fondness for white cars and a reputation for meticulous standards. Shortly after purchase, it was inspected by BMW main agent Dick Lovett of Swindon. It was then decided to undertake a full bare-shell restoration, with particular attention to original factory specification. The work was carried out by Dick Lovett Spraymaster, a BMW and Porsche approved bodyshop. Detailed invoices are on file covering the restoration, including parts supply and reassembly by Dick Lovett BMW. The result was comparable to purchasing a brand-new E30 M3, albeit two decades later.
In 2018, the car was sold to internationally renowned classic Porsche specialist Thomas Josef Schmitz GmbH of Westphalia, Germany. We understand it was taken in part exchange for a classic 911. Unsurprisingly, Thomas Josef Schmitz quickly secured a buyer, a titled prince residing in Switzerland. Prior to delivery, the car received a comprehensive inspection, and a new rear exhaust and catalytic converter were fitted from German BMW classic specialist KW Automobile. Brand-new tyres were also installed to ensure its legendary handling remained as sharp as ever.
The car did not remain in Switzerland for long and soon returned to the UK, where it has since been used sparingly, just enough to keep it on the button, but driven only in suitable conditions.
A highly desirable, late-registered, low-mileage example. Even more appealing as it is a European AK05 specification car, featuring the dog-leg five-speed gearbox and the more powerful 215 bhp engine. It comes complete with its original handbooks in the correct BMW wallet, the original BMW stamped service book, and a full tool kit.
It is exceptionally rare to find a UK market E30 M3, particularly one that has benefited from such significant investment and meticulous restoration.
