Daytona Automobil is pleased to present a 1992 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS. Developed as a homologation model for Group N and GT racing, the 964 Carrera RS was a lightened and focused version of the Carrera 2. Through weight-saving measures, such as the omission of air conditioning, power steering, rear seats, sound insulation, and the installation of manual windows and lightweight bucket seats, Porsche reduced the car's weight by approximately 100 kg compared to the standard model.
This example was delivered new by Porsche Zentrum Dortmund to its first owner. It was later sold to its second owner in Dortmund, before being acquired by its third owner in Italy. In 2013, at 82, 820 km, the car was sold by Porsche Zentrum Inntal to a Munich-based diplomat, who traded in his old Cayenne Turbo for the car. Porsche Zentrum Inntal serviced the vehicle and certified it as accident-free prior to delivery. From 2013 until early 2024, the car remained in the diplomats largely static collection, covering very few kilometers. In February 2024, it received a service at Porsche Munich at 83, 083 km. A prominent Swedish collector acquired the car in April 2024, and the odometer currently displays 83, 896 km. The vehicle is accompanied by its original service booklet, stamped exclusively by Porsche main dealers, along with owner’s manuals and maintenance invoices.
While standard Carrera RS models are highly collectible, this example has been mechanically optimized for improved performance. The original 3. 6-litre flat-six engine was completely overhauled approximately 3, 000 kilometers ago. During this rebuild, the displacement was increased to 3. 8 litres using Mahle pistons. The engine tune and installation of these performance upgrades are believed to have been carried out by Porsche Center Inntal in Bavaria. Additionally, the exhaust system was upgraded to a 'Cup' style exhaust with a 200-cell catalytic converter.
The transmission and chassis have received similar attention. Approximately 2, 000 kilometers ago, the gearbox was overhauled, and a new sports clutch was installed alongside a lightweight flywheel. The chassis was overhauled with firmer sports suspension, and the braking system was completely renewed. The car retains its standard Carrera RS braking setup, which utilizes 964 Turbo front brakes and Carrera Cup rear brakes.
Aesthetically, the car is finished in Guards Red (Indischrot) with a black leather interior featuring two-tone grey leather seat inserts, red seat belts, and red door pulls. It rides on its correct 17-inch five-spoke forged magnesium alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Inside, the cabin features factory Recaro bucket seats, manual heater and ventilation controls, and a top-tinted windscreen.
