This rare and valuable vehicle is an “only-one-ever-made” - a prototype and the only 1968 Bizzarrini GT America 2+2 built by Giotto Bizzarrini who is described in motoring circles as “the genius behind Ferrari’s success”. Proud of his Italian heritage, Giotto chose to honour his birthplace, Livorno, by endorsing the name on this prototype. After being exported to South Africa, the Bizzarrini was sent back to Italy some years ago for a complete refurbishment before being returned to South Africa once more. Powered by a Chevrolet small-block 326 Corvette engine, she has been restored to stunning, original condition, with gold paintwork, brown upholstery and tan carpets. Those in the know in Bizzarrini circles acknowledge that this vehicle is totally unique and definitely the only one of its kind ever made. It is of interest to note that The Telegraph newspaper in the U. K. reports that, in February this year, a 1968 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada (one of only 100 or so ever produced) sold on auction for a whopping £600 000!
