Beschreibung
An early post war classic style London RT (Routemaster Type) bus, familiar on London's streets until the last open platform buses ran in regular London service in 2005. This bus dates from 1948 and saw London service from then until the mid 1970s. This patina vehicle still has the original interior, and seats, even the old adverts are still inside. This bus still has the correct AEC engine favoured over the Leyland type by London Transport.
The pre-select gear change is smooth, the body is generally sound and original, though being almost 70 years old has the 'battle scars' you'd expect after many years on London's streets. The exterior paint is in a fair condition. The floors on both decks are solid wood and attractive, certainly when compared to buses today. All tyres are good and will see many years and miles yet - an expensive item if you had to buy a set.
This bus appeared in the BBC's 'The Good Life' as well as other 1970s classic sitcoms on television back then.
Not many like this come up for sale, and this one certainly is a slice of London and TV history. This vehicle is exempt from the London LEZ charge, MOT, and road tax. A great classic to own, or an excellent business promoter which draws attention everywhere it goes. Lack of covered storage forces sale at £38, 000. Private sale so no VAT.
