For sale is my Kawasaki S3 400 Mach II Triple, UK registered in 1975 and finished in Candy Sky Blue paint. The Triples Club tell me this is a rare UK-supplied bike they didn't know about as when I bought it in 2015 it had been stored for 25 years.
It has now been carefully rebuilt and lightly restored using many hard to find expensive NOS parts whilst preserving originality. Please see below for details of some of the jobs done. It is a very pretty bike which also sounds wonderful like only a Triple can and as you most likely know, the 400 was said to have a good blend of performance, weight and handling at the time.
Main jobs carried out;
Original engine stripped & rebuilt with all new seals (including crank), NOS rings, etc., all by the best man for the job in the UK, Gary from the Triples Club.
Forks professionally hard chromed and re-built with new seals & head bearings.
All bike parts renovated or renewed including bearings, bushes, chain & sprocket kit, etc.
Brand new tyres in correct sizes.
Rebuilt brakes front & rear, including master cylinder, cables & hydraulic lines.
Wiring gone through & all working, including new coils and refurbished switchgear.
Very rare set of excellent condition baffles fitted to the standard pipes - took 18 months to locate
Carbs ultrasonic cleaned & floats professionally set.
New battery.
Small number plate will be included.
Original spark plug holder.
New clutch plates & puller.
Wheels are original so the chrome shows pitting & wear and the spokes are black. The frame had been re-painted many years ago so has the odd chip & mark. No rear mudguard fitted.
I have had a few questions about whether or not the engine is original as it has the 4-bolt cover. What I can tell you is that it is the same engine it was registered with in 1975, so it seems that perhaps it was used as a demo bike and fitted with an S3A engine (& clocks) at the time of regsistration and sale. The frame is a 1974 S3. So it has an interesting history in that respect and is a great motorcycle which no doubt will keep your money more than safe with values continuing to rise.
