This excellent driving Jaguar E-Type Roadster was built on the 29th June 1970, distributed by British Leyland, New York, USA. The car is a genuine Roadster that spent all of its life in the US before being shipped out of California to the UK in early 2013. Interestingly, this Series II car was already in right hand drive form before arriving in the UK and for many years in the US had an enclosed headlamp Series One bonnet fitted. XEU 713K was brought into the UK via a Vauxhall main dealership in the Midlands who stripped the car down and carried out a major programme of work. A photo record of the work and invoices are present in the vehicles history file.
The E-Type has only covered 1500 miles since the major programme of work. The Vauxhall main dealership carried out the majority of labour and thousands of pounds were spent on new parts. The engine was stripped down and treated to new pistons, big end bearings and a fully rebuilt cylinder head with new valve guides, inlet valves, exhaust valves and heavy duty seat inserts. The car was treated to electronic ignition, new thermostat, re-conditioned alternator, new vacuum hoses, new clutch slave cylinder, new fuse box assembly, rebuilt carburettors and new water pump and electronic fuel pump. The suspension was treated to new drop links and anti-roll bar bushes and the braking system overhauled as required. BAS supplied materials for a re-trim in Red leather and the car was also fitted with a new hood. As part of the programme of work, the E-Type was also fully stripped down in preparation for a full re-paint. The car was fully re-painted and then built up with new glass rubbers, A and B post rubbers, new screen inserts, windscreen rubber, door frame seals, lamp rubbers and gaskets, mudshield rubbers, bumper rubbers, boot lid rubber, hood cantrail seal, new rear lights, re-chromed bright work and a new set of chrome wire wheels.
XEU 713K drives very well with a strong, rebuilt engine holding very good oil pressure. The engine starts up instantly, runs at correct temperature and runs beautifully and smooth. The four speed gearbox feels smooth, syncro's are very good and handling, steering and braking are all excellent as a result of the thousands of pounds worth of new parts. Having had a full re-paint, the paintwork is of a very good standard with a lovely bright finish. The chrome work is of a high standard, the hood excellent and wire wheels and tyres all like new. The interior looks stunning as expected having had a re-trim in leather, the carpets are as new and the boot is nicely trimmed. This is an ideal entry level E-Type Roadster, it is strong, usable and reliable but whilst it won't suit the purist, it offers wonderful open top classic motoring in once of the most iconic classic cars of all time.
