Lot 25
A 1982 Lancia Montecarlo S2 coupé, registration number MGH 4Y, chassis number 137A50005884, engine number 007989, red. Two versions of Lancia's stylish coupé were manufactured over a six year period in both coupé and Targa forms. First known as the Beta Montecarlo from 1975 with its inline twin cam four cylinder engine producing 118 bhp, a top speed of 119 mph and a 0-60 mph time of just under ten seconds. The second generation (S2) became available two years later incorporating some improvements over the original concept including fitting larger front discs and calipers, removing the servo altogether, a restyled front end featuring a new split grille design first seen on the Delta a year earlier, the buttresses were partially glazed to improve rear visibility, an aluminium strip was fitted in place of the bodycoloured metal where the badging was located previously, a new alloy wheel design was incorporated with 14 inch rims to house the large brakes. The interior had a new two spoke steering wheel replacing the original three spoke version. The engine gained a higher compression ratio, new carburettors and electronic ignition to improve driveability, while the suspension geometry was also revised. Production ran for only a single year with 1, 123 coupés and 817 Targas produced. This revised S2 coupé version has continuous history from new, with our vendor taking possession in 2008. The Lancia is finished in red with a black leather interior and has been in dry storage with its Fiat X1/ 9 stable mate since its last MOT expired in April 2009. The Montecarlo will now require recommissioning, but the Lancia rolls freely. The accompanying history file contains a run of MOTs from December 1985 to 2007, maintenance and restoration receipts, a list of all recorded owners and an original owner's handbook. This Lancia now looks for a new appreciative owner to further cherish and enjoy it. V5C, no MOT
