Here for sale we have a Series 2a hard top in popular Station Wagon configuration, benefitting from 7 seats, rear windows, safari roof with alpine lights and deluxe interior.
On the outside, this smart Series 2a sports a pleasing patina with matching rubber all round - there is a bonnet mounted spare, period badges on the front grill, rear mudflaps and towbar with electrics.
On the inside, there are seats for seven occupants with deluxe matting throughout, and the safari roof has deluxe headlining and there is also deluxe trim to the interior of the doors including armrests. As the photos show, the deluxe door bottoms are not currently fitted but these are on order and will be fitted in due course to give a more pleasing interior feel. This vehicle has come from a good home, where it has been well loved, and that does show in certain things - the dash lights work, and all the auxiliary switches fitted to the dash have a function and are labelled....... there is a switchable electric cooling fan, to keep things cool under the bonnet on the hottest of days, there is also a switch for the interior heater which is a more modern 'Clayton' version plus switches for the working reversing lights, etc etc.
Out on the road, this old girl motors along really really well, thanks to the modern 200TDI conversion coupled with the overdrive, larger 750 tyres and free wheeling hubs.... the culmination of this is a vehicle which will cruise at much higher speeds than standard, and with far less noise and aggravation. The other benefits include added reliability and far better economy and power than a standard engine. The ride is further enhanced by the fitment of Parabolic Springs - a nice addition to make things more compliant.
In summary, if you are looking for a sound and solid 7 seater Series 2a, with period charm yet able to mix with modern traffic, then this is well worth a look. With the added benefit of tax exemption and classic insurance, it should prove cheap to run in the long-term.
