I have reached an agreement with someone.
For sale: Toyota Landcruiser HJ47 troopy.
Because I am downsizing my hobby I am selling a Toyota Landcruiser HJ47 troop carrier or troopy.
This Right Hand Drive Landcruiser was built in 1984 and is imported from Australia.
In Europe the diesel version had a 3. 4 liter 4 cylinder 3B engine. In Australia they were fitted with the 2H engine, a 6 cylinder 4. 0 liter diesel engine. The same engine that was fitted to the HJ60 and HJ75 cars.
After driving it around Southeast Australia I shipped it to Holland and I obtained a Dutch registration for it. A couple of years ago I took it for a trip to Germany and once to France. It has been sitting in my garage for a few years now.
Here are the honest facts about the car:
It is still in good shape and a lot better than most 40 series Landcruisers on offer.
All Toyota steel except a small part in the RH the footwell. Ideal basis for an easy body-off restauration to perfection. Or with some DIY preservation you could it enjoy it as it is for years to come.

The good:
# All original Toyota steel, a rarity. Amazingly good state for the original state it is in.
# very little rust throughout. photos available.
# some surface rust inside the chassis nothing dramatic. photos available.
# registered for driver + 8 passengers, front and rear seats original upholstery with wear and tear.
# a factory tachometer
# windshield wipers with interval
# 2H diesel which has done a mere 363000 Km although it is about time for a service. (if you want more horsepower and torque it is very easy to swap this engine for an 12HT engine, the lower part of both engine blocks are the same.)
# engine will run forever, gearbox and transfer are good.
# It has aftermarket airconditioning, belt is not hooked up, no guarantees.
# bullbar
# towball
# brand new battery
# original vinyl carpet for the front is there but torn. Ask for photo.
There are a few areas that need attention:
# The tires are finished.
# Rust is starting but nothing dramatic. The worst spots are a small spot on the rear LH corner, in front of the LH front door.
# Like all 40 series LCs the seal on the hand brake drum is sweating a bit. "It is a feature, not a design flaw". Top up the T-case oil once or twice a year if you drive it a lot. Or buy a brand new HB drum $200 - $250 incl shipping and VAT. Expect the same feature to return quickly if you go 4x4 driving.
# RH footwell has been repaired by Australian previous owner
# right hand corner on the rear bumper has broken off. If you are not pulling a heavy trailer you're fine. (you might still be fine with a heavy trailer but I am not an expert). See photo’s. It is repairable without taking the body off.
Or take the easy way and order a galvanised brand new rear bumper (Hecktraverse) from Wuestentauglich in Germany.
The car is in The Hague, Holland. You are welcome to inspect the car yourself or have someone inspect the car for you.
