Candy Blue 1975 Kawasaki S3 400 Mach II - This is a rare UK-supplied bike, first registered here in '75 (as shown on the V5) so not an import. Very collectable and with around 23, 000 miles showing which is likely correct.
Previously srored for 25 years it has been carefully rebuilt using many NOS and hard to find parts. I lost count of the number of OE nuts and bolts I ordered and have spent plenty of time and money to have it riding as it should. Sounds lovely!
I prefer originality to fresh chrome and paint so whilst it is a very nice machine I wasn't aiming for concours perfection. The frame is excellent and all cycle parts have been gone through and replaced or refurbished as necessary, including but not limited to; re-chromed fork stanchions, seals, bearings, chain & sprockets, steering damper, electrics, brake parts & lines, etc. Paint is very good for an original bike and the chrome whilst original is also decent.
The engine was stripped, vapour-blasted and rebuilt with new seals etc by the Triples Club expert and the carbs have just been professionally cleaned, rebuilt and set-up. You will need to get yourself an MOT but when I rode it before having the carbs done it felt great, a lovely thing with that wonderful 2-stroke Triple crackle from the pipes.
After many months searching it now has a set of excellent original baffles (very rare) in the pipes and also a refurbished S3 light switch fitted. I do have a set of chambers I would sell for an extra £400 if of interest. I would prefer that you call for a chat if you are interested (rather than emailing offers or comments) as I am old-fashioned like that. I don't need the money but would rather see it out there being enjoyed. I can help arrange transport within the UK and beyond following receipt of the full amount. Located in Amersham, Bucks, HP6. With basket case projects fetching up to £3, 000 it is very fairly priced at £4, 995 for a nice useable example and a rare UK machine.
