This is a superb and refined example of a replica Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, factory built in 2012 by JH Classics, based on a naturally aspirated 2-litre Toyota MR2
This is an example of an early production car numbered “006”, and was used as the JH Classic demonstration vehicle, winning Best of Show at Stoneleigh 2012
This is a rare opportunity to own a vehicle that is an authentic replica, particularly when you consider that the value of an original Dino is around £500, 000, and is currently increasing in price by around 10% per year
The car has superb performance with authentic, classic styling yet benefits from the reliability of a Toyota platform, given that this is the donor car
The car gets looks everywhere it goes and is a fantastic car for taking to shows and events, where it has won a number of awards
The car develops high torque and provides fantastic performance figures from the 2. 0 litre engine and tuned exhaust system, additionally providing the car with an authentic, throaty roar and burble when you step on the accelerator peddle
The car also incorporates some original Dino parts, given that reproduction parts weren’t always available when manufacturing the vehicle
I purchased the vehicle in September 2013 and had it shipped to me from the JH Classic workshop in Somerset along with a file containing an extensive history of the car and it’s build.
The vehicle has mainly been taken to classic car shows during the summer months and then stored in my garage during the winter.
The current MOT expires 30th April 2019, and on the last examination had no advisories.
Prior to delivery, new sills were fitted to the car, which I have coated each year with Hammerite paint to prevent corrosion.
During the winter of 2015 the car underwent extensive professional refurbishment that included the fitting of a complete new wiring loom and in October 2015 I had new cam seals fitted along with a new cam belt and water pump.
I then followed this up in the spring of 2016 by replacing both the crankshaft and oil pump seals, along with removing and resealing the sump casing, all of which was carried out during the cars annual service.
Most importantly the car is correctly registered with the DVLA as a Dino Replica, insurance for me is around £125 a year and car tax £240.
The vehicle is available for viewing most weekdays, as I work from home, and will also be at Drive it Day on Sunday 22nd April at the National Memorial Arboretum and both days of the Stonleigh Kit Car Show.
