THE APPEAL

British classics don’t come more classic than this, a 1973 Triumph Spitfire which has been restored over a four year period by the seller's friend. With the Spitfire now completed, a reduction in storage space has brought on the decision to part with the Triumph even though it has only covered less than 1,000 miles since the completed project.

This means it’s the perfect car for anyone looking to step into a British classic which has been fully overhauled and is running just as it should, leaving one thing left to do and just in time for the summer months - enjoy it!

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

 • V5 is present
 • Registered on the 8th June 1973
 • Restored over four years
 • Invoices for the several parts used during the restoration
Work on the Triumph started in late 2016 with a complete refurbishment of the engine bay, replacing or refurbishing any necessary parts along the way. The car was then repainted in white. In 2019, the floor and chassis were taken back to bare metal before being recoated in underseal to protect them from the elements.

More recently, in July 2021, the 1300cc engine was treated to a complete rebuild which included new bearings, piston rings, the cylinder head has been skimmed, and everything internally has been cleaned before being built back up.

THE INTERIOR

 • Retrimmed seats
 • New carpets
 • Well presented
Inside of the Spitfire is a nice place to be, thanks to the freshly retrimmed seats, which, as you would imagine, are in excellent condition. The carpets have been replaced and again are in excellent order. There is also a set of Spitfire embroidered mats to protect the new carpets. The door cards have been replaced, and these are also in excellent order.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, the steering wheel looks to be the original and is in good condition. The dashboard fascia has been sanded back and re-varnished for an as new appearance, and there are no splits or cracks to mention on the top section of the dashboard. The instruments are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of 45,766 miles. An additional oil pressure gauge is fitted, which shows a healthy oil pressure when the engine is hot or cold.
The boot area is clean and well presented, with no areas for concern to the floor. The spare wheel is present along with the original cover.

THE EXTERIOR

 • New hood
 • Full respray
 • Wire wheels
 • Good chrome work
Finished in white, the Triumph presents well. There are an odd couple of marks looking around the car, but nothing to cause concern. Starting at the front, the bonnet/wing section looks to align as it should. The headlights and side lights are free from any splits or cracks, and the chrome bumper is in good order with just some minimal age related tarnishing. The window rubber appears to be in good condition, and there are no noticeable scratches on the windscreen.
From the side, the two-seater looks fantastic, and the doors look to align as they should, opening and closing with ease. The roof has been replaced and so is like new. It fits as it should, and the rear plastic windows are free from any scratches. Once the roof is down, it can be finished off with the tonneau cover, which is included.
The low slung rear end looks just as good as the rest. The light lenses are free from damage, the boot lid aligns tightly, and the chrome work like the front is in good order. The wheels on the Spitfire are wire wheels mounted with the original stud pattern. These have been repainted in silver. The tyres are a new matching set of Hankooks with a whitewall look, in keeping with the age of the vehicle.

THE MECHANICS

 • Rebuilt engine
 • Full suspension overhaul
 • Reconditioned gearbox and differential
 • Overdrive
As mentioned earlier, the 1300cc engine has been given a total overhaul and is reportedly running better than ever! The car starts up straight away and there are no untoward noises to be heard.
The gearbox is a 4-speed unit with overdrive in 3rd and 4th operated via a switch in the gearknob, which was rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago. The change is reported to be smooth and precise as the car pulls through the gears. Not only was the gearbox rebuilt, but also the differential and new universal joints were fitted. There are no noises reported to come from the transmission whilst on the move.
Bringing the car to a halt safely, the brakes have been given a complete refurbishment, with calipers rebuilt, the brake pipes replaced and updated to use Dot 5 brake fluid.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
