The Appeal
In 1972, Lancia took home a legendary victory on the Col de Turini mountain pass, They had officially won the Monte Carlo Rally, and with it, the Lancia Fulvia exploded in popularity. The sporting pedigree of the luxury motor was officially cemented. It’s perhaps no surprise that just a month later, Lancia unveiled their special edition tribute, carrying the winning car’s livery, fog lamps and a little splash of Monte Carlo branding.
This example comes to us in very good order, having been refreshed by the current vendor. It’s the perfect little tribute to the brand’s big victory and a wonderful addition to any discerning enthusiast’s fleet.

Designed after the Lusso specification of the Fulvia, the Monte Carlo edition may be a rally car on the outside - but inside the cabin, it’s all beautiful period luxury. A rich wood grain across the dashboard, faux leather bucket seats and a fine, uncluttered line make this a very comfortable, attractive car to drive.
This example has had its seats retrimmed to the original factory spec, leaving a fabulous set of fine black bucket seats that integrate perfectly, with minimal wear and no rips or tears we can highlight. The door cards, however, appear to be original, and show much more surface-level wear with the odd surface stain, scratch or scuff.
The dashboard is nice and clean, with the wood grain presenting splendidly against clear, easy-to-read instruments that have no reported faults.
The steering wheel has been replaced with a nifty Nardi Torino signature wheel, carrying a brushed copper texture and a black leather wrap - which matches up with the car’s interior very nicely.
The carpets are in good condition, while the headlining does show the occasional spot of staining and a small tear to the fabric. Round the back, the boot appears to be in solid order and conceals a good-quality spare wheel, along with a jack and key.

The Monte Carlo edition of the Fulvia was a gently updated one, carrying features from the 1.3 second series and themed after the works car - with a unique body shell that featured flared wheel arches, no bumpers and the addition of rectangular fog lamps - along with a single black wing mirror.
The edition’s two-tone paintwork - standard red, with matte black on the boot and bonnet lid - has been refreshed circa 2018, and presents very nicely with minimal wear. We can discern some marking to the black paintwork on the bonnet’s front lip, and there is a touch of scratching on the painted black sills - but it’s very minor, and does nothing to detract from its smart appearance.
The chrome trim has gathered a gentle patina, with the grill surround showing some marking and patina here and there, while the branding - being original to the car - has lost the slightest bit of its lustre. The chrome handles are newly fitted, and are in very good order.
All of the fog lamps and headlights look to be in great order, with no chips or fractures that we can discern. The two additional yellow fog lamps have been fitted to a high standard very much look the part.
The car’s sitting on a set of period-correct Campagnolo wheels and are shod in a full set of Michelin tyres - however, these do look like they need replacement.
Underneath, the vendor reports that the car is in generally good order with only surface corrosion.

A quick inspection sets this Fulvia to be a very nice example, with the engine bay displaying nicely and looking solid throughout. It’s a very clean overall example, with the vendor reporting no issues and the car still accelerating, braking, starting and running exactly as you’d expect.
An excellent overall example of a very desirable limited edition, this attractive Fulvia is a real tribute to the brand’s golden age, and should make for a very fun, unique addition to any enthusiast’s garage.
