THE BACKGROUND

Italians excel at automotive beauty. Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Lamborghini, Lancia, Maserati, Pagani and it would be remiss to exclude the design house of Pininfarina. All of the aforementioned have designed and built a significant proportion of the most iconic cars ever. That’s not to say that everything that came out of Turin was a triumph. You can’t make a Frittata without breaking some eggs. The 1950s and 60s are widely regarded as the peak period for Italian coachbuilding and driving spirit, with one such marque hitting the sweet spot both on the road and the racetrack.

They say every petrol head should own at least one Alfa Romeo in their lifetime. The admiration and feeling of passion, soul and heritage that’s instilled into an Alfa is what Afisiti will convey as the reason why you should buy one.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GT1300 Junior is one of those vehicles that when launched, further solidified Alfa's name in the history books as a brand that stimulates style and desire.

While the GT1300 Junior was the entry model to the coupe range, the little 1300cc is a revvy twin cam engine producing 89bhp, which when mated to a lightweight coupe shell, makes for a spirited driving experience. Furthermore, despite its smaller capacity it was capable of a 0-60 time of 12 seconds and over 100mph top speed, which is still more than enough to repeatedly put a smile on your face. Somewhat more impressive though are the looks; it really is a pretty vehicle and any petrol head worth their salt can appreciate its enviable style and therefore even today it is still sought after, maybe even more so.

THE HISTORY

The Alfa before you originated from France, hence it being left hand drive (LHD). The current owners imported it to the UK in 2005 and it has remained in their possession ever since. It has been extensively modified to a fast road spec, with all of the necessary safety and performance enhancements one could want.

It has undergone restoration at the same time, which included arespray 4 years ago. The car was part of a small collection of beloved classics, but with the owner now unfortunately passed on, it is time for the Alfa to go to someone who will love it just as much as he did.

THE PAPERWORK

There is a decent file of paperwork with the vehicle, although the majority of its documentation before 2005 is of course in French. Since its arrival on UK soil, most of the modifications and upgrades have been carried out by local independent garages or the owner himself.

The car is of course MOT exempt.

THE INTERIOR

The interior’s sparse  focus is on reducing the weight of the vehicle and providing additional safety to its occupants. It is fitted with two high-end Corbeau racing bucket seats and Willans 4 point racing harnesses that are mounted to the Safety Devices roll cage. There are no rear seats, further reducing the overall kerb weight.

The car is fitted with a Momo racing steering wheel of a classic style which looks perfectly at home, and there are a number of additional custom switches that have been added by the current owner (who owned a firm that made wiring looms). There is an additional custom centre console with cut-off switch and 12v socket integrated, and additional gauges for fuel and engine temperature fitted on top of the standard dash. The car is also fitted with OMP racing pedals and fire extinguisher.

In the boot, you will find the racing spec fuel tank and filler neck – it should be noted that the car cannot be filled up externally, access is via the boot space.

THE EXTERIOR

The exterior presents extremely well and is very clean indeed with the paint still having a great shine and only a few tiny stone chips. The car sports the original steel wheels in great condition and the tyres all have good tread. The car is fitted with extra Cibie spot lamps and they really add to the classic racer look of the vehicle whilst of course also being functional. The chrome work is in great condition with minor pitting in a few places and there is a small dent by the passenger door handle. The overall look and condition of the car really does turn heads, we were inundated with passers by asking questions when taking the photos. It really is a pretty vehicle.

THE MECHANICS

The car is in fantastic shape, with everything on the car having been painstakingly restored and upgraded where possible. The engine bay is largely original and that revvy 1300 engine goes well and sounds fantastic through the stainless exhaust.

Everything works as it should and there are no bad noises, it is believed the engine may have been rebuilt at some stage, but there is no visible paperwork to back this up.

Underneath of this Alfa is as good as the bodywork and interior, showing that the car has not wanted for anything during the owner’s tenure.

THE APPEAL

In theory the appeal section of this car writes itself - I mean look at it. It has to be one of the prettiest models of a classic Alfa that’s still in the “affordable” bracket.

The late owner's vision of a performance classic is clear to see, and has been executed well with high end performance-based additions to an already very desirable vehicle.

It is evident when you spend time with this car that the owner was a true enthusiast and spared no expense in realising his vision and maintaining the Alfa to a very high standard. This in turn presents a very easy opportunity to acquire a beautiful iconic Italian classic, requiring the new owner to simply turn the key and hit the open road.

If you would like to dip your toe into the sea of classic performance motoring with a well-built, well specced and well-loved vehicle, this is sure to tick those boxes.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
