The Appeal

The Triumph Stag is a well-loved car, with examples being very well cared-for and cherished. To assist new and existing owners, there is a wealth of information and technical support available on the Triumph Stag Owners Club website, the members of which are as knowledgeable, approachable and enthusiastic as they come.
There can be little doubt that LAM 26P will be a worthy addition to any collection, it's already been well cared-for and had some significant work undertaken, making it a fantastic ownership proposition.

History and Paperwork

  • First registered in May 1976
  • Dry-stored/garaged when not in use
  • In remarkable condition throughout
  • V5 certificate in current keeper’s name
  • Current owner since May 2021
  • Restored over the last 12 months
  • Original owner's manual
  • Previous MOT certificates
  • Spare parts
  • Service and maintenance receipts and invoices
LAM 26P completed its build on 20th May, 1976 at Triumph’s Canley facility near Coventry. A little over two week later it received its first registration on 4th June, 1976.
Since then, the car has been lovingly used by no less than 12 former keepers, with the current owner acquiring the car in May 2021, who immediately set about restoring the car to the extraordinarily high standard shown here.

The Interior

  • Original dash trims retained
  • Elegant tan leather upholstery
  • New carpets
The original interior has been sympathetically restored, with the owner retaining and restoring trim parts where possible. Fortunately, the lovely wood veneer dashboard, with it's elegant instrument arrangement, has been retained completely, along with the original STAG-embossed three-spoke steering wheel.
The cabin is swathed in smart tan leather, which complements the red exterior beautifully. It covers the front and rear seats, door cards and rear side panels. Meanwhile, the front seats have been restored with new foam and upholstery, ensuring a comfortable and supportive ride. Alongside this, the owner has replaced the old black carpets with a more cheerful and complementary cream set. This has transformed the interior, and it's a truly bright and airy space. We think it looks fabulous and would be a great place to spend some time attacking your favourite B-road or cruising along a coastal run.

The wood veneer of the dash and centre console looks to be in fine condition, as does all of the instrumentation and switchgear. Some wear and patination is to be expected, but overall it presents very well indeed. The interior also features a radio/cassette system.

The Exterior

  • Finished in original Carmine Red (Code 82)
  • Rarely used soft-top in good order
  • Removable hardtop is in very good condition
  • Original brightwork looks good
Handsomely presented in original Carmine Red, this Triumph Stag is one of the best examples we've seen in recent years.
With full-length gold coachlines applied along the car’s waistline, its smart appearance is enhanced by original black-and-silver alloy wheels (including a full-size spare). The wheels are shod with a set of new LandSail LSV88 touring summer tyres which are in excellent condition.

The exterior of this car is very smart indeed, with just one or two minor issues a new owner may wish to address. There is some wear and tear to the T-bar as it meets the B-pillar behind the driver’s seat, which will need attention at some point in the future. There is also a blemish on the leading edge of the bonnet on the driver’s side. These are pictured in the accompanying gallery. To be fair, any professional body shop would make short work of these.
While the Stag may look good with the fabric roof up, it looks absolutely fantastic with it down – which after all is its raison d'etre. A cursory glance down each flank of the car shows no evidence of collision damage and the front number plate, bumper and valance remain in remarkably good condition. Like the upper bodywork, the underside and lower sills present in very good order with only a small amount of surface corrosion, which may reasonably be expected on a car of this age.
The headlight lenses are clear, as are the rear light clusters and all doors and apertures open and close smoothly and as intended. It appears all of the external trim and brightwork is similarly complete and in fine condition too.

Also included is a removable hardtop, in good condition, which gives true all-weather capability and looks excellent when fitted.

The Mechanics

  • Gearbox recently reconditioned
  • Engine runs smoothly
  • Said to ‘drive like a dream’
When we saw the car, it started very well and settled into an intoxicating four-pot burble. The four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive connected smoothly and the clutch engaged with no drama, requiring only a light feathering of the revs to get underway.

This should be unsurprising due to the fact that, as part of the restoration, the gearbox was reconditioned and the engine given a thorough check over.
The custodian reports the car to be in very good mechanical condition with steering, brakes, engine and running gear performing absolutely as they should.

Summary

There are few British classics that offer up the same interesting mix of drivability, comfort and rakish good looks as a mid-70s Triumph Stag.

This particular car has been lavished with some serious TLC and presents in excellent condition both inside and out. Overall the smart, newly finished interior represents a throwback to an altogether different automotive era when things were simpler, less complicated and (to our eyes) prettier.
This icon of 70s British motoring is in superb condition and deserves many more years of happy motoring with its new owner....

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
