THE BACKGROUND

Everyone knows the body shape of the retro classic E30 BMW, it takes no introduction and in recent years this model has gathered a massive following thanks its clean lines and racing heritage in many saloon car championships of the time.

The BMW E30 was the entry level luxury car that BMW produced between 1982-94. It was initially offered as only a 2 door, but several different versions soon followed. These included a Four door, Convertible, and an Estate version.

In all 2,339,520 E30s were produced but they are now revered amongst collectors and enthusiast as one of the best 3 Series’ to be produced.

THE HISTORY

When the current owner acquired the car a few years ago they made it their mission to make it as good as it could be.

One of the biggest jobs of note that has occurred recently is the full body respray in the original alpine white. With this respray also came the addition of the BMW hardtop being colour coded to the car which ties it together nicely.

THE PAPERWORK

This doesn’t need to be a list of paperwork. Instead describe what’s there, talk about important paperwork for key works such as engine rebuilds/paint/restoration etc.

There is some paperwork that comes with this car including the original owners handbook, assorted MOT certificates from the years and a few other receipts. The V5 is currently in the previous owners name, which the vendor confirms. This is due to the vehicle undergoing work straight after purchase. The vendor has kindly provided the Bill of Sale to confirm the vehicles purchase.

One of these receipts shows that there was major engine work done back in 2010 this is possibly where the engine was changed to the 325i instead of the 320i, offering more power on demand. There may be no paperwork for this job but the cambelt was replaced not so long ago, to prove this the current owner has left the old cambelt in the glove box to prove the fact it has been replaced.

THE INTERIOR

The interior of this car is in great condition. The leather seats may show little signs of wear but there are no rips or tears in the material which for a car of this age and number of owners shows how well cared for it has been.

The current owner made a few improvements when they acquired the car. Number one they fitted a new, modern central locking system and this comes with 2 electronic fobs to unlock the doors, the boot is not on this system so there is a spare key stowed back there just in-case.

The second job was to go through and make all of the electric windows to work. Finally, one more novel item was refitting an original car phone to the centre console, sadly it won’t make any calls these days, but it is a nice little piece of automotive history.

A few small things to note on the interior is that there are couple of small cracks on the dash and the rev counter doesn’t count revs anymore. But on the whole, these are very little niggles that should not detract from the overall interior condition.

THE EXTERIOR

The exterior of this BMW E30 has recently undergone a major body refurbishment, with the car having a full body respray to the original alpine white colour, it now looks as if it would’ve done when it left the factory all those years ago.

The good thing about this car is you have 3 options to how you want it to look, Option A is the colour coded white hardtop, Option B is the factory original black fabric hood and Option C is to fold the roof away and enjoy the wind in your hair. This is almost the car that can be used in any conditions. The nearside front wing of the car was replaced during the respray due to the original being rotten and the rims it runs on look great set against the rest of the car.

In regard to the hardtop roof and other roof options, the current owner was able to source the correct locking pins for the hardtop making sure that the hardtop will be securely fastened to the car in all conditions. The fabric roof may have a few pulls on the fabric but overall, it is in good condition with the folding mechanism working as it should.

THE MECHANICS

At some point in this E30’s life it has been fitted with the more powerful 325i engine which gives it a little more poke when you go near the throttle pedal. The automatic box copes well with this addition power and is smooth in its operation.

It sounds excellent and will turn a few heads, the car currently has an original looking back box fitted but in the boot you will find two chrome exhaust tips, these will come with the car so it is up to the new owner as to whether they want to fit them or not. One major part that has been replaced recently is the cambelt, to put the new buyer at ease the current owner has placed the old cambelt in a bag in the glove box.

THE APPEAL

The E30 is now a full-blown classic car, with prices steadily increasing across the board this is you opportunity to bag a proper BMW classic. With the mod cons fitted that you may expect in a more modern car but with the charm, character, and smell of an old car you are sure to enjoy every second of ownership. This is very much a car that will reward you for driving it properly.

With the most recent body work and small mechanical bits replaced this car should now go as well as it looks. It truly is a great looking, sounding and driving car that will always draw a crowd wherever you are.
The current owner has mentioned that they will be happy for any one interested to come and view the car during the auction.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
