The Appeal
Every now and again we find a car that would be easy to overlook as a run of the mill example with higher than average mileage.
But in this case closer investigation reveals an exceptionally well preserved Mercedes with only two owners in 31 years, both of whom have obviously pampered the car.
In conversation with the seller we discovered that he studies the weather forecast before any journey to ensure the Mercedes never gets wet!
He reports that it drives superbly, and having driven the Mercedes to the south of France and back on several occasions he assures us that it has been far more reliable than any other car he has owned and he’ll be sad to see it go.

The Interior
Cream fabric with tan carpets
Immaculate interior with little evidence of wear
Impressive wood veneer
With a car that has so obviously led a pampered life it’s no surprise to find the interior is in pristine condition.
That said, when you factor in the miles driven then it is quite extraordinary how well preserved it is! Mercedes have a well-deserved reputation for long lasting fabrics and finishes, and this is a perfect example.
The seats are in great condition; the fabric has lasted well with no noticeable wear, rips or tears. There is some evidence of the original stitching becoming visible on both drivers and passenger seatbacks.
The seats are all extremely clean, the rears in particular are like new. The tan carpets have been protected by factory floor mats, so they are also like new. The dash is all original, and all the wood veneer on the dash, console and door cappings exhibit a good shine with no cracks or dullness. The original Blaupunkt radio cassette is present.
A quick glance at the photographs will reveal how clean it is, with no shoe scuff marks on the sills, door cards or seat backs. The boot is also smart and tidy with barely a mark.
The Exterior
• Red paintwork with barely a mark to be seen
• Life spent garaged means no sun damage or blooming paintwork
• Excellent bodywork with no evidence of corrosion
Having spent nearly every night, and all winters, tucked up in an integral garage it’s no surprise to find the exterior is as well preserved as the interior.
After a close inspection we could only find minor stone chips to the front and one small mark on the passenger side front bumper. The flanks are free from car park damage and in general the red paintwork is excellent.
The glass is clear and free of chips, as are the front and rear lights, and the chrome plated parts are also in good condition. It would be impossible to deduce the mileage by looking at the exterior as it has lasted exceptionally well.
The Mechanics
• Regular servicing and oil changes
• Less than 250 miles covered since last service
• Reported to drive beautifully
Looking through the MoT history of the Mercedes reveals it has been driven 3 to 4,000 miles a year since 2006.
The MoT history also shows that since 2006 it has passed every MoT with flying colours. The only advisories have been about tyre wear and one oil leak, -that’s quite an achievement!
The seller tells us that the Mercedes was serviced annually until 2018, and since then it has been serviced twice in 2021 and 2022. We worked out that’s two services in less than 3,000 miles.
Lifting the bonnet reveals a tidy, and exceptionally original, engine bay with no sign of poor maintenance or non-factory parts.
It is exactly what you’d expect to see in a car of this age and mileage.
Summary
The W124 series Mercedes saloons are well known for their ability to cover galactic mileages with barely a murmur.
Hailing from an era when no other manufacturer offered the build quality or reliability of these saloons it was no surprise they were the vehicle of choice for the police, taxi companies and those who knew they were going to be racking up the miles!
This example is barely run in and is, without a doubt, capable of plenty more.

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
