The Appeal
As the first 911 to go water-cooled, the 996 is an epoch-marking car in the marque’s history. With a widened wheelbase, twin turbochargers and unique styling, the Turbo model was the cream of the crop and remains one of the finest supercars of the ‘noughties’.
This example is presented in Porsche special order paintwork, with genuine low mileage and a fine service record. We think there can be few finer ways to enjoy modern Porsche ownership than a 996 Turbo, the combination of luxury, performance and value on offer is almost unparalleled.

The smart black leather upholstery is in fine condition, with some mild patination but no notable damage or wear, the cabin of this 911 is a lovely place to be. The black carpets and grey headlining are in similarly fine condition, with no sagging or staining to the headlining that we could see.
Looking at the dash, overall the controls and instruments look very well indeed, with clear gauges and only minimal wear to the switchgear. There are a few scuffs and marks to the plastic trim, such as on the centre console, but only what is commensurate with the car’s age and mileage. Neatly complementing the black trim, the aluminium shifter and handbrake are also in very fine condition.
The optional PCM means that you get a BOSE radio/cassette/CD system, alongside satellite navigation and phone connection. We’re told by the vendor that everything works just as it should, with no issues.
In the boot (or ‘froot’, being as it’s at the front), the carpet looks to be in fine fettle, with no damage or staining. There is also a spacesaver spare along with a jack.

FInished in lovely Polar Silver Metallic paint, which has a slight blue tint to it in certain lights, this 996 looks very well indeed. The paint looks to be in very good condition overall, with the owner reporting a small scuff to the off-side rear quarter panel, but otherwise no notable damage.
All of the panels look nice and straight, with no corrosion or damage evident to us. Gaps are even and straight, while all of the external trim and badging looks to be present and correct.
Naturally, as this is a 20-year old car, there will be the odd minor blemish or stone chip. However, as far as we could see, it presents in generally excellent condition.
The wheels are the original ‘Turbo’ 18-inch five-spokes, which have a handful of very minor blemishes but generally look to be in good order. They are wrapped in Michelin tyres that look to have reasonable tread levels and show in good condition.
Looking under the car, there is some minor surface corrosion to some of the drivetrain elements, as you would expect, but otherwise everything appears to be in good order.
The Mechanics

With a twin-turbo 3.6-litre driving all four wheels and an output of 420bhp, it’s little wonder that the 996 Turbo can blast from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds. The vendor tells us that the exhaust was changed for a Milltek system in 2014, at a cost of about £4,000.
The vendor tells us that the car drives very well, with no leaks or smoke, and handles “incredibly”, while producing a characterful engine note.
With a fine service record, low mileage and long MOT, the next owner can have real confidence that they’re purchasing a car which has been well cared for and should offer many years of motoring pleasure.
Summary
The 996 is a car that seems to have found its time, becoming ever more appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts alike. This Turbo model is the pinnacle of the range, and is presented in a fine specification, with a great history and in a very attractive colour scheme.
