Description

Now Sold Only 500 Jensen GT's were produced and 300 of those were exported to America making this GT a very rare car on UK roads. This car has the Lotus twin cam 907 engine coupled to a 5 speed Getrag gearbox. The history is especially interesting because it has a fantastic documented provenance. Chassis No 30123 was built in 1975 as possibly the first left hand drive production car for export to America. The car was removed from the production line by Jensen Engineering Department for quality control scrutiny and not fully re-assembled before Jensen Motors went into receivership. The incomplete car was sold by the receivers in 1976 and it took until 1987 for enthusiasts to secure all the missing right hand drive parts and complete the car. The GT was first put on the road in 1988 and there is a magazine article from Classic Cars (October 1987) telling the story and showing the final stages of completion. It also made the cover photograph of the Jensen Owners Club magazine in May 2019. Copies of both magazines are in the history file.
This Jensen GT has never been used as an 'every day' car and has covered less than 15, 000 miles since completion with a documented MOT history going back to 1988 to confirm the ultra low mileage. The car also has one of the first production Lotus 907 engines which Jensen historians believe was originally installed in the Jensen Healey prototype vehicle no 55010 and was sold by the receivers in 1976.
The coachwork is in excellent condition finished in metallic Cheviot Brown with a light tan vinyl roof and a full length Webasto sunroof, a classic 1970's colour scheme. The interior is even more 70's with beige corduroy upholstery and a walnut veneered dashboard all in great condition. A period correct Becker Monza radio completes the 70's feel.
The car has been inspected and serviced and it is registered as an 'Historic Vehicle' making it exempt from Road Tax, MOT, ULEZ charges.
This is an opportunity to own a very rare car with an interesting and unique history ready for shows and events.
