What a stunning example this one is! The Lotus Excel SE presented in brilliant white with contrasting ox blood red leather interior, absolutely gorgeous colour combination that gains lots of admiring looks and attention at shows. This particular Excel SE has been in the hands of just 4 owners from new, and covered a warranted 60, 000 miles. Current keeper has owned and cherished the Lotus for the past 4 years, in that time she's been treated to; engine refresh at Lotus Bits including new cambelt and water pump, carb 'tune up' at Northampton Motorsport, full leather treatment, refurbished the original OZ Lotus alloy wheels, new gear knob, new windscreen and new sun visors. Certainly a well cherished example.
Regards the service records, we have a large file containing; original owners hand book / service book, lots of previous MOT's from present day to 1996, service invoices, parts replacement bills and hand written lists of replacement items. Service book reads as follows; pdi, 9k, 19k, and 34k in 1993, then the next stamp is from Lotus Bits in 2020 at 59k. The service book, along with all the previous MOT's, confirm the vehicles low mileage. We also have invoices for; brakes, cambelt changes and a full clutch kit. To drive? Everything you could want from a Lotus! She starts up cold really well, idles under her own steam, accelerates through the rev range rapidly like a twin cam should, no undue smoke or fuss, iconic handling that Lotus do so well, the gearbox swift and precise and the clutch bites as you would expect. All this comes together to deliver a driving sensation very few cars can boast. Suffice to say she starts, idles, accelerates, handles and brakes as you would hope, and possibly better.
Visually, this Lotus is incredible. As bright and honest as you're likely to find anywhere. Nothing nasty to report whatsoever, no deep scratches or untoward dents, no cracks in the fibreglass, no sun fade or lacquer peel, a very well kept and cherished car. The interior is gorgeous, the leather has worn the test of time extremely well, no uneven wear, no split seems, and there is no rips or tears to the leather upholstery, carpets, headlining or trim. The interior really is a lovely place to be while driving and the seats are super comfortable.
So there we are! The Lotus Excel SE 2. 2 twin cam H/ C, 5 speed manual, incredible condition inside and out, lovely colour combination, good history, long MOT with no advisories, ready to drive away and be enjoyed. Well worth travelling to view, we certainly don't think you will be disappointed.
