Description
Jaguar XK120 SE roadster, 1953.
Fantastic condition. No rust WHATSOEVER.
Brief history. This car was sold in October 1953 by Ernest W Hatfield, Sheffield with first registration RWB 564, which it still has.
I imported the original RHD car from France in 2021. In 2006 the car was totally, no expense, restored by a monied family for a wedding by respected Jaguar restorer Patrick Lansard. Total nut and bolt rebuild. Lots of bills and history. Engine rebuilt, new bumpers, new aluminium fuel tank, new shocks, new bumpers, dynator, new hood, new tonneau, facet fuel pump and chromed wire wheels.
The car was all matching numbers and drove faultlessly but after fighting the ‘originality demons’ I wanted to improve the drivability and embarked on converting the car to 5 speed box, with new clutch system, new front discs and calipers along with 2” SU’s with manual choke, electronic ignition (123). New high torque starter, new aluminium radiator, hoses, water pump and electric cooling fan. New Seat belts and armrest – dash totally rebuilt.
I also tweaked the pedals, sculpted the seat backs, adjusted the seat runners together with a new smaller Motolita steering wheel. The car now fits my 6 foot 2” frame.
Car is fun to drive and now sorted - sounds like a pre-war Riley Brooklands - brilliant.
Very glamorous car in this colour – stunning.
Incredible value at this price.
OR - Exchange/ swap Vicarage calibre MK2 / 340. Box file of history and receipts.
