Description
Originally built for export to the USA, repatriated in 1985 refurbished and converted to RHD. UK service history and receipts but little info about it's US history. Full restoration carried out in 2004.
Purchased by me in 2015 as the 8th UK owner from a classics dealer.
This MGA is in original specification except for stainless exhaust, single 12v battery with isolator and key start. Full record of work carried out by me including new hood and tonneau cover.
The engine starts and runs well, doesn't burn or leak oil and has good compression and oil pressure. Main and big-end bearings replaced and crank re-ground . I believe it and the gearbox are the original units.
Body and chassis are in good condition with no signs of corrosion except some slight bubbling of the paint just below the boot opening.
Fair condition for her age although the trim is a bit tired but garaged and covered and not used on salted roads during my ownership. I bought 'Margot' as I was looking for a classic roadster which was drivable and would be a retirement hobby keeping her up together and of course, within my budget. I had a tatty MGB many years ago so wanted something different. Couldn't afford a Healy 3000 but liked the style of the MGA. This one appealed to me because she hadn't been modified as many others seem to have been.
She always gets attention and favourable comments when I've taken her to classic shows or meets.
Why am I selling? Because I don't get to use her much and it's time someone else had the pleasure and it is better for the car.
