This immaculately restored car is being sold from the private collection of JOHN BARNARD, one of the most innovative racing car design engineers of his generation. Uniquely, Barnard has been technical director⁄ chief designer at both Ferrari and McLaren.
Barnard originally sourced the car in California, where it was registered to a Mr John Wise in Hollywood. The V12 was imported to Switzerland in 2014, where it was registered to Barnard in the Canton Vaud.
The car was then returned to the UK, where it is currently registered, and between September 2014 and August 2016 it was refurbished in full, to Barnard’s exacting standards, by E Type UK for a cost of £140, 000 (invoices available). Prior to refurbishment the odometer read 20, 731 miles in the USA, but since being fully reconditioned, the new odometer reads 37, 700 km.
As part of the refurbishment, the bodywork was completely stripped and a new soft top, new interior, and fully restored seats were installed. The original silver paint (Jaguar Opalescent Silver, ICI Ref. No. 1848 B) was used along with the original upholstery equipment.
Stainless steel wire wheels replaced the original chrome wire wheels, which are still available. The exhaust system is also stainless steel.
Engine upgrades included: valve guides; oversized intake and exhaust valves; reprofiled cams; uprated valve springs.
The car is in immaculate condition and with the benefit of power steering, it is an absolute pleasure to drive. The impressive roar of the V12 never fails to turn heads. It is of course supplied with Jaguar Heritage Certificate, it’s prior US and Swiss registration documents and current UK registration. Any additional detailed information regarding the refurbishment is available on request.
