Description
1949 Ford Pilot.
This car has served me well as a daily driver for the Spring and Summer, and is very much admired whenever it’s parked.
Comprehensively restored several years ago, a credit to the then owner, whatever needed replacing was attended to hence the abundance of new parts. Fully rewired using a correct braided loom, retrimmed in a lovely rich tan leather, much rechroming and, although I have no evidence, reputedly rebuilt engine which runs as quiet as a whisper. Comes with optional Marchal headlights, a rare and expensive option. A set of Firestone whitewalls gilds the lily.
Carburettor replaced with a Stromberg, recent service which included plugs, leads, coil, oil and filter etc.
The Pilot was asked to appear on the American Ford V8 Club stand at the NEC show last year drawing many favourable comments, if you own one of these cars an essential club to join , a very friendly group of people.
The paint, although generally good, could to with some attention which is confined to the wings, but doesn’t detract from the overall impression.
Overall, a lovely car with some TLC has the potential to be one of the best out there .
