Lotus Elan +2 Zetec Project – New Spyder Rolling Chassis – Over £14, 000 with Spyder cars
This is a genuinely reluctant sale after approximately 40 years of family ownership. My uncle owned the car for around 30 years before I purchased it from him in 2016.
The original body is now fitted to a brand-new galvanised Spyder Zetec-conversion rolling chassis—one of the last chassis produced by Spyder Engineering before the company closed.
More than £14, 000 has been spent with Spyder Engineering on the new rolling chassis this does not include the original purchase price of the car, all receipts included. All work completed so far has been carried out to a high specification, with no expense spared.
The rolling chassis includes:
All-new suspension
Uprated brakes
Adjustable Spax dampers
Sierra differential and propshaft
Handbrake system
Zetec engine mounts
MT75 gearbox brackets
The engine and gearbox are not included. Spyder Engineering recommended a 2. 0-litre Black Top Zetec engine, hydraulic-clutch MT75 five-speed gearbox, Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies and an Emerald ECU. Weber DCOE carburettors could be used as a more affordable alternative.
Also included are five original alloy wheels and a large collection of spare parts, as shown in the photographs. The interior and dashboard are both in good condition.
Unfortunately, growing family commitments mean I no longer have the time to finish it. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to complete an Elan +2 to their own specification, with much of the expensive groundwork already completed.
