Description
As certified by a certificate from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, the car was built in May 1982 and initially exported to Italy. According to the first British owner, encountered by chance in a Paris street twenty years ago, he had originally bought it to be used at his family holiday home in Portugal, where it stayed until October 1987, before being brought back and registered in Great Britain. I subsequently acquired it in July 1998 and the car was then registered in my name in Great Britain, before being kept in France as a collectible vehicle for occasional use since the early 2000s. With the insurer no longer able to insure vehicles registered abroad, the car was customs-cleared and registered in France as a collectible vehicle in 2023. Its original colour was “Vogue Blue” with a beige interior, but the first owner had it repainted in grey and had the seats reupholstered in a tartan fabric matching its Scottish and Portuguese heritage. Recently the brakes have been completely renewed, as well as the cooling system, with an engine service and the replacement of a cylinder head gasket, plus repainting of the wheels and the bodywork. The front floor panels are corroded and the suspension still requires attention. I have owned this car for twenty-seven years, but given my age I would like to entrust another enthusiast with the continuation of its restoration.
