Few four-seater cabriolets manage to combine comfort, sportiness and style with such mastery, and the E30 excels brilliantly in this exercise. The example we are presenting was registered in 1989 and is of French origin. With a 2. 7-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine from Alpina replacing the original 2. 5-litre engine, this 325i from the heart of Alpina has enough to make its C2 and B3 cousins blush. Prepared to the highest standards, its completely rebuilt engine has only 4, 000 km on the clock. It now develops around 240 bhp, offering a lively acceleration, a strong character and performance superior to that of the M3 and Alpina versions. This E30 has been carefully prepared to reveal all its sporting character: - Replacement of the axle with a short axle (4. 45) - Complete rebuilding of the 2. 7L Alpina engine - Schrick camshaft - Installation of a stainless steel exhaust system - Installation of a stainless steel 6/ 3/ 2 manifold - Customised reprogramming This unique example represents a particularly attractive alternative to the 100 Alpina B3 convertibles produced, while retaining the authentic BMW DNA and a strong character. Mechanically, this E30 is in excellent condition. Its 2. 7-litre engine works perfectly, idling very well, revving up sharply and accelerating dynamically. The result? Exceptional roadholding and impressive performance. The 5-speed manual gearbox works perfectly, shifting quickly and smoothly. The stainless-steel exhaust system provides a round sound at idle and a real mechanical melody at higher revs, a pleasure that is all the more appreciable in a convertible. Braking is powerful and well-balanced, thanks in particular to the complete overhaul of the brakes and replacement of the hoses. The ride is precise, with no play in the steering, thanks to the replacement of the stabiliser and steering rods and the complete overhaul of the running gear. The rear axle has also been fully restored, ensuring a healthy, playful ride worthy of a true sports car. The period BBS wheels are in excellent condition, shod with recent tyres that are also in very good condition. Aesthetically, the paintwork looks very good, with a uniform, beautiful sheen and subtle purple highlights in the sunlight. The underpinnings are sound and the chassis is completely free of corrosion. The original upholstery is very well preserved, with a slight patina that gives it all its charm.
The interior as a whole is in excellent condition, with all the instruments in perfect working order and the Focal hi-fi system delivering high quality sound. The alpaca soft top is in excellent condition, and the soft top cover is new. In view of the condition, the rare configuration and the impressive work carried out on this vehicle, we are asking €44, 990. Trade-in and exchange possible.
