The story behind this model:
The Fiat 124 Spider was born in 1966 at the Turin Motor Show.
Designed by Pininfarina, the famous Italian coachbuilder, giving it its elegant and sporty lines. Based on the Fiat 124 saloon, it shares part of its mechanicals but with a completely different style: a refined cabriolet, designed to appeal to Europe and especially the American market.
Fiat entrusted the engine to Aurelio Lampredi (former Ferrari engineer).
It established itself as an Italian alternative to the English or German roadsters of the same era. The Spider keeps a mad charm and remains the best‑selling Italian cabriolet in the USA.
Production stopped in 1985 and Fiat withdrew officially, but Pininfarina continued production under its own name.
But in 2016 the renaissance began! To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Fiat resurrects the name of the Fiat 124 Spider!

Film trivia
The 124 Spider, especially in the Spider 2000 version, appears in several American TV series such as Dallas, Magnum, or Charlie’s Angels. It has become a recurring detail in the US film and TV sets of the 70s–80s.
But that’s not all. Recently in House of Gucci, Lady Gaga (Patrizia Reggiani) drives a vintage Fiat 124 Spider in several scenes.
