MERCEDES CABRIOLET 450 SL V8 4. 5 from 1979, currently showing 121, 000 miles (194, 000 km). Starts very well and runs like a clock. Paint code 404 MILANBRAUN, beautiful. Collector’s registration (V5C). Air conditioning, electric windows, power steering, automatic gearbox, cruise control. Recent tyres. Supplied with the vehicle history in the USA. The original manuals with the car’s documents from when it left the production lines are included. The Carpass is also supplied with the car. Arrived from California in 2019 at 111, 000 miles. Servicing includes: replacement of all 8 injectors and 8 spark plugs; front-end inspection/ alignment check; adjustment of the cruise control; replacement of door stops and door seals/ gaskets, new (wood) A/ C front panel; fitment of new American front/ rear bumpers, but with less overhang than the originals; geometry/ alignment set-up; 4 new Falken 205/ 70R14 tyres; engine oil change and filters less than 6 months ago. At Mercedes, replacement of the 5 engine belts (as a precaution) and re-tightening of the air pump shaft (invoice). At 114, 430 miles: gearbox oil change with filter replacement. A vehicle that runs perfectly and is extremely reliable. We use it once a month for a weekend in Normandy. It has already done Paris/ Rome with absolutely no issues. Stored in the garage permanently. The soft top is in excellent condition, like new, with no particular defects. I treated it with a hydrophobic/ water-repellent product—no leaks. A fresh paint coat was done recently (5 years ago). It really has no noticeable faults. The hard top supplied with it is also in very good condition. The interior is like new or almost. I added the chromed seatbelt guides—quite practical. Beker radio fitted. The car’s chrome is absolutely sparkling. Bug screen (windscreen net) included. The mechanics are in good health and the engine is in very good condition. The camshafts show no wear (photos available on request). Braking is effective (discs in very good condition and pads almost new) and the running gear behaves very well.
