Description
Rare "Taximeter" meter from the Société Générale de Compteurs de Voitures (Richard Popp patent, early 20th century).
This meter, among the taximeters imposed on Paris in the early last century by Prefect Louis Lépine (who appreciated inventions), equipped the Taxis of the Marne, particularly the Renault AG/ AG1 vehicles of the Compagnie Française des Automobiles de Place "Autoplace" (whose registration ended with G7).
The Taxi of the Marne preserved at the Musée de l'Armée at the Invalides is equipped with a Taximeter of this type (last photograph).
The specimen for sale has never undergone restoration and requires cosmetic attention; however, its clockwork mechanism is in apparent working order.
