Description

Porsche 356 C 1600 Coupé — 1964 Model Year Matching Numbers — 4 Owners — Exceptional Historical Documentation — Near-Concours Condition For Sale €96, 000 Classic Passion is pleased to offer this remarkable Porsche 356 C 1600 Coupé Reutter, 1964 model year, in a particularly rare state of preservation and presentation. Manufactured on 22 November 1963, this 356 C possesses a major asset: its history is documented from the moment it was ordered new. The file accompanying the car includes notably the original Porsche order form, the factory invoice, the shipping documents to the United States, the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity as well as all available maintenance and restoration invoices. Having had only four owners, it is today presented in near-concours condition. Engine, gearbox and chassis correspond to the factory output numbers: the car is therefore completely Matching Numbers. Only its exterior colour differs from its original configuration. The Essentials Porsche 356 C 1600 Coupé Reutter Model Year: 1964 Production Date: 22 November 1963 Chassis: 127578 Engine: 730838 Gearbox: 73453 — type 741/ 0C 1. 6-litre Flat-4 Engine — 75 bhp 4-speed Manual Gearbox 4 Owners Matching Numbers engine/ gearbox/ chassis Current Colour: Silver Grey Original Colour: Signal Red — code 6407 Black Leather Interior Near-Concours Condition Clean MOT History Substantial File of Invoices and Original Documents The Final Evolution of the Porsche 356 The 356 C represents the culmination of nearly fifteen years of evolution of the model that built Porsche's reputation. More refined and easier to use than previous generations, it retains everything that makes a 356 charming: a line of great purity, contained weight, simple and engaging mechanics as well as a particularly direct relationship between the car and its driver. This Reutter Coupé thus constitutes one of the most desirable versions for those who truly wish to enjoy a 356, whether on a Sunday outing or as part of historic rallies or long-distance touring. An Original Configuration Perfectly Documented The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the factory configuration of this car and allows its principal numbers to be verified unambiguously. It left the factory with the following equipment and options: Interior with leather seats Becker Europa Radio Two Speakers Aerial "Cocoa" Mats Roof Rack Straps Chrome Roof Rack (missing with the vehicle) Dunlop Tyres The original Porsche order form and invoice also confirm the Signal Red 6407 colour, paired with a black interior. The car today sports an elegant silver grey colour, particularly suited to the 356's lines. This is the only significant difference from its factory configuration. Otherwise, mechanical authenticity is preserved: chassis 127578, engine 730838 and gearbox 73453 correspond to the original Porsche documents. Near-Concours Condition The quality of presentation of this 356 is immediately apparent. The panel gaps, chrome, glazing, wheels and cabin all display a particularly careful level of finish. The engine bay and underside have also received considerable attention. This quality is not merely aesthetic: the file allows the work carried out on the car to be traced. Significant restoration was notably undertaken in 2012, comprising bodywork and structural work with floor pan replacement, work on the tunnel and front longitudinal members, sealing restoration and underside treatment. The mechanics, fuel tank, running gear and seats also underwent work. More recently, in October 2025, Atelier Gobin undertook major work including notably oil and filter change, spark plug replacement, fuel pump renovation, replacement of a rear wheel bearing, handbrake adjustment, engine removal and refitting, renovation of the rear engine panels and complete replacement of the sound insulation. The vehicle today has a clean MOT history, consistent with its excellent overall condition. An Exceptionally Well-Documented History This is probably one of the strong points of this 356. Its first owner ordered the car in Germany in 1963. The file still retains the original order form today, on which the configuration, equipment and price of the car are listed. The Porsche invoice dated 22 November 1963 is also present, as are the documents relating to its shipment to the United States. A shipping document dated 25 November 1963 mentions chassis 127578 and engine 730838 as well as its destination: Los...
