Chassis number LD40973 was originally a German car, delivered new to Hamburg on 24 April 1997 by BMW Schneider to Mr M. Leitzmann. It remained in the hands of its first owner until September 2002, when it was acquired by BMW Vriesendijk, a BMW dealership located near Assen in the Netherlands. The car was subsequently sold to its second owner, who kept it until September 2026, when we acquired it.
When first registered in the Netherlands in 2003, this Z3 showed only 29, 000 km. Today, its odometer reads just 69, 300 km, making it the second Z3 with the lowest mileage we have ever offered for sale.
Painted in the very elegant Arktissilber Metallic, a colour that remarkably complements the voluptuous lines of the "Wide-Body" Z3, it is paired with Oregon Taninrot leather upholstery. In our view, this combination strikes exactly the right balance between elegance and sportiness, whilst presenting particularly well.
The Z3 presents itself in exceptional condition in every respect and retains approximately 95% of its original paint. Only the driver's door and rear wing have undergone minor paint correction in the past. The Oregon leather remains remarkably supple and deep in colour, whilst the leather dashboard has escaped the UV-related shrinkage and cracking so common on Z3s. Even the original red velvet carpets have retained their vibrant colour and fine appearance.
The car has always been carefully garaged and regularly maintained, which is immediately apparent.
Its original specification is particularly desirable and very comprehensive. It notably includes air conditioning, heated seats, M Sport suspension, ZF five-speed manual gearbox, original hard-top, BMW Business radio, 17-inch light-alloy wheels, red velvet carpets, wood trim inserts, black soft-top, roof rack and original luggage case.
It truly brings together all the right options, particularly if the aim is to use it as it deserves: for fine getaways and long road trips. The combination of the 2. 8-litre six-cylinder, manual gearbox, M suspension and practical features such as the boot luggage case makes this a particularly appealing Z3 for such use.
The maintenance history is continuous and complete, documented by the original service booklet as well as a historical file comprising numerous invoices.
