Motors Corner is delighted to present this 1955 Ford Thunderbird, the first year of production for the model and the first generation. Assembled on 30 November 1954 in Dearborn, it was owned by American jockey John Bosworth and is presented today in its factory-fresh specification: Raven Black paint, black and white interior, 292 cubic inch V8 and a three-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. It is an unrestored original car. It starts first time, runs beautifully and shows evidence of careful, regular maintenance. Mechanicals: The 292 cubic inch Y-block V8 is paired with the three-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, floor-mounted shifter, a far rarer and more desirable combination than the Ford-O-Matic. The engine fires up immediately, runs smoothly and without hesitation. The engine bay is original, in keeping with a well-maintained and driven car. Interior: The cabin, in its original black and white specification, is in good authentic condition. The upholstery, door cards and dashboard show a lovely patina of use, with the full instrumentation, rev counter, clock and period radio. All equipment works, with the exception of the fuel gauge at the time of writing this advert. Exterior: The bodywork retains its original Raven Black finish, beautifully patinated by time. The panel alignment is good and the chrome is bright and in very good overall condition, whether on the bumpers, headlight surrounds or fender scoops.
