The Appeal
There hasn’t been a car quite like it before or since. Agile and engaging in equal measure, with just enough power to make things exciting, the 205 GTI is not just - for many - the best hot hatch, but one of the greatest drivers’ cars of all time.
The 1.9 provided more power and torque, making these cars great for the B roads and longer high speed trips. Peugeot could make virtually every one it built, but there were still a couple of special editions, including this Miami Blue car. Just 600 were sold, all featuring that distinctive paint colour and uprated interiors.
This 1990 car has recently been recommissioned after 10 years in storage, which means it comes to market with the benefit of all that work plus a relatively low mileage. The work included cambelt and service plus all fluids.
Now equipped with a long MOT, this smart, factory-standard 1.9 GTI is solid and very presentable. There is scope for some light cosmetic fettling, but surely that can wait until it’s been driven and enjoyed by the lucky buyer.
