Wonderful Edwardian Buick which has had the most incredible continuous family ownership.
It was bought new in 1918 by Mr S A Cole of Hutchinson, Kansas, for $1100. In those days in America, you would be sent your cheque back by the bank once they had cleared, and so the car comes with its original purchase cheque, dated 28th July 1918, made out to Reno Buick of Kansas City. A couple of weeks later, on 14th August 1918, a second cheque was made out for $15. 90, to cover the purchase tax. That cheque also survives.
Mr Cole then kept the car until 1978 - that's 60 years! He then sold it to his nephew, Robert Cole, who had always coveted his uncle's car, who then himself kept it for a further 38 years. I also have the cheque for that sale!
Everything on this car works beautifully, including the lights, horn and brakes. The hood is in good condition, and provides excellent cover in inclement weather. The car starts incredibly easily even on the coldest of days, and will then cruise all day long at 50mph, making it a really practical and usable Edwardian car. I'm selling because I have too many cars!
