1968 Mk2 Morris mini 1293cc with some nice period mods.
Engine spec:-
1293cc 11 stud early engine and box.
Twin HS4 1. 5” SU carbs with manifold, plus MED H4 HS4 2. 5 inch Ram pipes.
Stage 4 head ported and polished with big valves.
Fletcher 2 core hi flow alloy radiator.
276 fast road Kent camshaft.
Duplex timing chain.
Aldon competition electronic ignition.
New 13 row oil cooler.
Full gearbox rebuild with straight cut drop gears.
New 3 piece clutch.
New oil pump.
New starter solenoid.
Engine has been professional rebuilt by Paul Preston Restoration and set up on a rolling road just over 1, 000 miles ago at a cost of over £4, 000, and has now been fully run in.
Exhaust:-
3” fletcher stainless back box and straight through middle.
LCB manifold.
Suspension spec:-
Converted from wet to dry in 2016
Lowered on Hi lo’s with adjustable GAS short shocks all round.
Brakes:-
Front 7. 5” Cooper S discs.
Rear spaced drum brakes.
Wheels:-
New minilights and tyres done about 100 miles.
Interior:-
Rare Les Leston steering wheel with stainless drop bracket.
Chrome window catches, gearstick and handbrake.
Modern seats. (Don’t really suit it if I’m honest).
New smiths rev counter and pod.
New mk2 lower dash rail and switch plate.
Period radio and speakers.
Body:-
This car was restored about 13 years ago to a reasonable standard by the 2nd previous owner to me who was a welder and has had no welding since. The restoration was good and is still solid with no rot, but not to show standards. It has the proper replacement cills not the rubbish found on a lot of older minis and has also had some welding on the floor and boot (boot is not the prettiest) but shows no signs of deterioration after 13 years. The paint is ok but not to show standards and again done 13 years ago so shows some signs of age. There is a very small dent in the wing which has been there since I and the last owner have owned it.
Overall a very smart, presentable and solid mini with cooper S styling that has had a lot of time and thousands spent on it. It attracts a LOT of attention wherever its goes and sounds and looks the part with all the period mods. I will be sad to see it go but I want to move on to something else and can’t have both!
