The 290 is a dream to drive with smooth power steering and automatic gearbox. Has the original and sort after rear t. v. back-up monitor, in perfect working order [a $2134 option in 1987], very useful for manoeuvring.
Has the favoured floor plan of rear queen bed [with the panoramic views from the rear windows], and split bathroom.
Comes complete with all factory manuals [including for fridge, microwave, cooker, generator, stereo, hydraulic power levellers etc.]
Documentation includes original bill of sale for $100, 330 and complete specification and options list.
UK mains conversion with x3 UK plug sockets and x2 USB ports in front cabin, hidden under retractable stainless-steel unit in worktop, with same set-up in rear bedroom, where there is also a new flat screen television set-up for UK use.
My personal vehicle purchased for glamping, which I am now sadly putting up for sale due to a change in circumstances.
This A Class motorhome is 29 feet long, with the Chevrolet chassis and highly dependable Chevrolet/ General Motors 454 cubic inch big block V8 [7. 4litre], which has just been serviced ready for the new owner. The transmission is a Turbohydramatic TH475, a heavy-duty automatic gearbox which is known for its toughness and durability. The rear axle is the reliable Dana 70HD with disk brakes.
Exterior is beautiful, with excellent aluminium body, that only has a few marks, exceptional for a large 32 year-old motorhome. The panel above the front wheel suffered a scrape by a careless delivery driver. This has been replaced with a new aluminium panel by a professional coach builder, which matches the original body perfectly. There is a small scrape on the passenger side.
Sleeps 4 in great comfort, amazingly the original microwave cooker has never been used and is in ‘as new condition’, as are many of the interior fittings.
Mechanics who have serviced it have commented on the clean and rust-free condition underneath.
Always a non-smoker vehicle.
The driver and passenger front Captain seats swivel and are in excellent condition, and are beautiful with their original tan leather package. The rear leather seats are also excellent and set off the hardwood hickory units perfectly [Many Airstreams of a similar vintage have floral pattern seat designs of questionable taste, which would require a costly re-trim to get to this standard].

Assembled at the Airstream Factory in Ohio, and then bought by a wealthy couple from Glen’s RV centre in New York State, this 290 model stayed in their meticulous ownership until it was shipped to the UK in 2016. I am the second owner since importation.
As well as a service, I have also had the off-side windscreen replaced with a new unit shipped from the States, as a stone chip was showing signs of cracking further.
At the time of writing I am arranging fitment of new leisure batteries and she will be sold with a new MOT [currently MOT’d until May].
My daughter named our Airstream ‘’Havana Moon’’, as she of course looks like a cigar case. I have not seen any of these for sale recently in the UK or Europe. There are masses of trailers but barely a handful of motorhomes.
With only 22000 miles she is barely broken in, especially when considering the strength and durability of the 454 V8 and the other quality mechanical components chosen by Airstream.
This is a rare find in this condition and mileage. The 290 was only made from 1985 to 1990, and it is unlikely you will find many in this original condition, even in the United States.
A unique opportunity and probably the best quality ‘A’ Class motorhome made, and certainly the most striking.

I have also taken the time to list all the options and features on Havana Moon, however there are so many I may have missed something out!
