1980 Volvo 244 DL
This is a true 'survivor car'! I purchased this car off its longest owner in February 2018 and have used its as a second car, driving mostly at weekends and occasionally to work and is a pleasure to drive in any weather conditions and on any type of road.
When I purchased the car, I gave it a full inspection and was amazed how clean it is inside and out including the underside with not a single sign of dodgy repairs or damage anywhere. The previous owner had had the brake disks and pads replaced on all four corners and still have plenty of material left. The tyres also where all replaced and are dated 2012, again with plenty of material left.
The differential and gearbox oil are both a good colour and the levels have stayed at the top since I've owned it showing no signs of leaks. The engine, although looking and sounding healthy, was given a thorough service where I replaced the cam belt, oil, oil filter, air filter, AUX drive belts, spark plugs, points and condenser. The suspension is what you would expect from a 1980 Volvo, soft and comfortable is one of the reasons this car is a pleasure to drive, even on Surrey's roads. Despite only leaving the factory with 105HP, it pulls very well in all gears with no unusual noises from any part of the drivetrain. The interior is in generally very good condition despite its age, one door card is worn but still fully functioning.
The only modification is the stereo which has the advantage of AUX, USB and bluetooth. I fitted it so that the original 80/ 90's unit can be easily reinstalled to have a fully working radio and aerial.
Perhaps this cars most impressive achievement is the 2600 mile road my friend and I completed at the beginning of July last year where we drove to the Volvo museum in Gothenburg. It performed outstandingly without even going over normal running temperature, which included sitting in traffic for an hour around Antwerp in 30 degree heat.
For a classic car, the Volvo is very practical. It starts when you want it, its very spacious and has a boot that can only be described as cavernous.
It comes with a file full of paperwork and comes with two sets of keys.
A viewing is both welcome and highly recommended.
