The Rover 2000 or P6 was launched in 1963 and won car of the year as well as awards for safety and design, thanks to innovative features such as all-round disc brakes and panels which bolted to a frame like the Citroen DS. The TC version arrived in 1966, with 115mph top speed and 20bhp more than the standard 2000.
This car is a 1972 2000TC in its original colour of Almond with black leather interior. Copies of the new and old V5’s show just two previous owners, the first from new in 1972 until 2003 and the second from 2003 until 2016. A detailed word document covering all of the servicing from new shows one further owner “Albert Frances Ltd” from 1972 until 1974 – so either the first owner initially had this as his company car or the first keeper change was too early for current DVLA records.
This P6 is best described as good in all departments and it presents well but it is by no means a show-winner. The upper body and underside are in good order with no rot and the paint finish is very presentable but less than perfect with various imperfections and one or two small dents. The engine, gearbox clutch and brakes are all working well, the oil pressure is excellent (we have just given it an oil change) and it drove very well on the 100 or so miles we have covered. The interior trim is in generally very good condition with some minor wear to the front seats.
The P6 has been under-valued for years and it is still possible to buy one for less than the price of a comparable Morris Minor but prices are finally starting to rise. Clearly, this one represents excellent value! Thanks for looking and please call if more detail is required.
