Beautiful 1948 Cadillac Sedan Series 60 Special
Engine 5900 cc - Flathead V8
Before 1948, almost every Cadillac model was redesigned including this Sixty Special.
With completely new sheet metal, but still with an exclusive
133-inch wheelbase, the luxurious Sixty Special weighed in at 4, 370 pounds.
The new Sixty Special used a unique "X" frame, which made it possible to build the 1, 890 kg car within its framework. This not only gave the new Cadillac the stiffest chassis on the market, but it was also 3 inches lower than other Cadillacs - without sacrificing space.
More importantly, the shoulder and hip room could increase by more than 5 centimeters without an increase in overall width.
In combination with the brand new, column-mounted gear lever, the cars really offered six passenger comfort.
The Sixty Special was powered by Cadillac's standard 130 hp (97 kW), 346 cu in (5. 9 L) V8 engine.
Inside, window lifts and a two-way adjustable bench with hydro-electric assistance were standard equipment; the system used a central electrically driven pump that supplied pressurized fluid to hydraulic cylinders attached to the seat and window controls.
Only this model from 1948 has a rainbow-shaped instrument panel that places all meters directly above the steering column in front of the driver; a new curved dashboard design that contributed to the spaciousness of the passengers.
The decorative chrome slats on the roof and the individually framed glass of the side door (a design element from the Sixty Special) were also transferred to this latest model.
With a touch inspired by the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, the new Sixty Special with simulated side scoops and curious tail fins - it resembles the vertical stabilizers of the P-38.
Car comes from California. No rust at all.
Chrome in sublime condition.
Is on Belgian papers.
In short, a unique car with which you can impress!
Believe me ... people turn their heads and thumbs up!
