Beskrivning
Mechanically identical to Jaguar’s 420, this was the most luxurious, refined and costly option in the extensive range of mid-size models produced at Coventry in the 60’s. With the later Borg Warner automatic and power steering which was largely unchanged in character throughout production of the subsequent XJ range, these models provide the sweet spot of genuine 1960’s styling without the heaviness associated with many cars of its era. Ahead of their day, this model also benefits from reclining seats and advanced heating and ventilation. This car is quite superb and we have known it since the 1980s when it surfaced to the market as a mint, very low mileage example which had escaped the neglectful treatment most suffered in the 70’s. Since then subsequent enthusiast owners have cosseted the car, and whilst the upholstery is still astoundingly lovely, original and correct, a very high quality re-paint was carried out some years ago only due to fading of the over-polished original coats. It has delightful period features such as chrome wire wheels and full length webasto sunroof which enhances and adds fun to the driving experience on the days the car is most likely to be enjoyed. A remotely operated, modern stereo is discreetly hidden under the seat. The car has previous concours awards to its credit, and could easily gain further accolades with little more than minor titivation. The paperwork file is lovely, much of it from new. Finished in Sable with Cinnamon Hide- colours with both period and contemporary appeal. The mileage is 63, 000 since new- 9, 000 of which has been travelled by the last owner we supplied the car to six years ago, so it is mechanically well sorted.
