This Car is a 1973 Rover 3500 P6 V8 in Scarab Blue with box pleat leather and PAS. It has various good points and is too good to break but does need some work.
The underside is in very good original condition and other then one small plate on the o/ s inner wheel-arch we can see little signs of welding or repairs. The upper body is also in generally good order, all four wings are solid and the paint is reasonable with some imperfections. The box pleat leather is excellent with the exception of one small split to the driver’s seat. All of the electrics work fine and it still has an MOT. We bought this car as a non runner but after a day’s fiddling we have the engine running well with strong oil pressure and it has recently been serviced. All four tyres are nearly new and matching.
On the negative side, the automatic gearbox is faulty – it goes backwards but won't go forwards – it’s a BW65 which are commonly available and inexpensive. There is also a dent to the bottom of the o/ s/ r door, a few scabs to the bottom of the o/ s/ f door, some scabbing to the roof cap under the vinyl and a small amount of rot at the bottom of both rear “D” posts. This car is also on the damage register as a total loss from 1994 - back then these cars were worth very little so a minor bump could well account for this and there are no obvious signs of a repair.
With several cars in work right now, we have decide to offer this car as a straightforward project but it’s worth noting that a good set of box-pleat leather seats can change hands for the best part of our asking price and this car could be on the road for a few hundred pounds.
