1969 Lotus Type 61 Formula Ford Racing Car Frame: AM 195 Styled on the famous “wedge” design of the Turbine-Powered Lotus Type 56 raced at Indianapolis in 1968 by Graham Hill, Joe Leonard and Art Pollard, the Lotus 61 Formula Ford was first displayed at the British Racing & Sports Car Club’s annual racing car show in London at the beginning of 1969. The Type 61 proved to be a success for Lotus selling many customer cars across Europe and the United States becoming one of the bestselling formula car chassis for the marque. The Lotus 61 finished production with almost 250 units produced (including the type 61M cars) between 1969 and 1971. This car was built in 1969 and was originally Green and fitted with a long-range fuel tank as an extra spec. The Arch Motors frame number (AM195) and Lotus Chassis numbers are matching which is unusual and rare. Initial work by Borland Racing Developments for testing, gearbox inspection, new ratio’s, suspension set ups, fluid changes, CAMS compliance and general race preparation. The car has raced in the 2018 Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport and Historic Sandown. Car presents in race ready condition having recently undergone race preparation. New parts including wheels, harness, throttle linkages, many new suspension components (list available).
