This is my 1988 XJR-s Le Man No. 87 with 36, 846 miles.
I found this XJR-s as an abandoned project and I had to save it when I found out it was a Le Man celebration car.
The car had not been on the road since 1992 when I bought it early 2018 and then carefully went through everything to make the car safe, reliable and enjoyable once more. After the restoring the car to a good usable condition I went on a 1300 mile trip over 4 days after having the car on the road for a 3 weeks and the car performed flawlessly!
I have its original document holder with all booklets, service history and users cassette.
Work carried out;
- Carefully repaired any corroded areas and welded in fresh steel.
- Weld repairs to lower section of the front wings.
- The underside was primed, painted and undersealed to prevent any more corrosion.
- Front subframe was replaced with a new one ~10 years ago.
- Fresh oil filter, oil, air filters and spark plugs.
- New fuel filters (external and internal) and pump as a preventive measure.
- New brake calliper’s, pads, discs, braided hoses all around and fluid change.
- Fuel line replacement (from fuel tank to engine bay lines).
- Rear cage removal, check over and refit. Fresh differential oil with powerlok still feeling tight.
- Fresh gearbox oil.
- Custom stainless-steel exhaust system which has a joined 3” center section (mixing tube) and then two 2. 25” pipes through cage pipes with silences (very pleasant rumble but in no way obnoxious).
- I fitted larger air inlet trumpets, but I will replace them with the originals for the new owner.
- New headliner.
- I also have a lovely book matched veneer to match in with the dashboard but I have not got around to fitting this.
- All electrics work; heated seats, cruise control, radio, lights and windows (but they are a little slow)
- Air conditioning still blows cold air but the air con pump belt slips (I have a new belt for this as the old one looks to be stretched out but I have never got around to it).
Unfortunately, with starting a new career alongside a big move South which takes me to an area where I cannot continue to work on the car to bring the body up to its former glory. The car is currently being stored where it is regularly started and run through its gears.
The XJR-s easily passed its MOT for 18-19 but it will sell with a fresh MOT.
The interior is amazing with the seats being very comfortable on long drives and it still retains that fantastic Jaguar smell. The bodywork is really nice and straight but the paintwork will need attention if you wish to make this a really nice show car.
The car is located in Near Dundee, Scotland but I may be able to drive it down to the Somerset area depending on dates. I have full trust in this car, and I believe it could brush of a 400-mile trip within a day.
I am looking for offers of around £13, 500 and the private registration is included.
