We are delighted to present for sale this smart Series 3 Truck Cab, complete with new canvas and seats. This vehicle has been subjected to a rebuild in previous times, which is particularly uncommon in the truck cab variant.
Externally, the bodywork is far superior to what we are used to seeing in vehicles of this age – it is clearly a spray paint, gloss finish which is pleasing both from 10 feet and up close! There are lots of period features such as the bonnet mounted spare, rear grab handles, new canvas and front lampguards. There have also been some tasteful upgrading – the wheel arch extenders to accomodate the larger Insa Turbo tyres and the door-mounted mirrors make this series more practical for road use.
The interior houses three recent standard seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. Truck Cab interiors are often superior to the soft and hard top cabins – they are smaller so stay far warmer in the winter, are more secure as the front is cut off from the rear, are quieter as there is less reverberation (and it is easier to have a conversation!), whilst providing a load space for logs, coal and wood – handy if you don’t want to be ‘with’ it when you are driving home! The sliding rear window (only operational from the front cabin) means you can even keep the dog in the back (or fit a pair of bench seats for extra passengers), and they are not ‘cut off’ from the front cabin. The rear is currently unfitted, and has a load mat to the floor as pictured. The tailgate is on chains, so can be used as a seat if needed, or to assist with easier loading of items into the rear.
Out on the road, this old girl delivers a pleasing driving experience, aided by the larger rubber. It is evident that it has been rebuilt, and feels tight out on the tarmac.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series Land Rover® that has been rebuilt and that can be used for work or play, then this could be for you. Truck Cabs are often overlooked, however their versatility is what makes them so attractive – they can be used to carry pretty much anything, passengers or cargo, without impeding the comfort of the front passengers – both in terms of space and warmth! This we know all too well, as the Directors use a truck cab all year round. It is used for collecting engines, logs, coal, moving rubbish and generally kicking about the back lanes on a weekend.
